10 Easy DIY Craft Ideas to Try This Weekend

Ten single-sitting crafts to fill a slow weekend — most use materials you already own.

A free weekend, a clear table, and a handful of simple materials are all you need to make something you will love. Here are ten starter crafts our studio team reaches for again and again: painted postcards, pressed-flower bookmarks, air-dry clay dishes, block-printed tea towels, paper marbling, matchstick frames, washi-tape wall art, pom-pom garlands, hand-bound sketchbooks, and miniature canvas magnets.

Start small, finish happy

Pick one idea, gather everything before you begin, and give yourself ninety unhurried minutes. Beginners do best with projects that finish in a single sitting — a finished piece on the shelf teaches more than three half-done ones in a drawer.

What you will need

Most of these ideas use what you already own: paper, scissors, glue, acrylic paint, and brushes. Our shop stocks the few extras — carving blocks, cotton rag paper, and archival inks — and every order ships with a printed how-to card.

Share what you make and tag the studio; we feature one maker every Sunday in the gallery hallway.
